Alex Gotza is a talented tattoo artist from Thessaloniki (Greece). We are proud to present his beautiful new Sketchbook. Read our short interview and discover more about him, his style, his artwork and projects for the future!
Hi Alex, would you like to introduce yourself to our readers?
I’m Alex Gotza, from Greece. I was born and raised in Thessaloniki, where I still live and work.
When did you start tattooing and how would you define your style?
I am involved in the tattoo scene since 2002. I have been the co-owner of Dirty Roses Tattoo Studio for 10 years. Right now I can say that my style is “dark neotraditional”, with a mixture and influences from lots of other styles like Japanese, blackwork and illustrative.
Did your style change over time?
It changed and evolved over time to become what it is now.
Is it important for you to paint and draw as well, beside tattooing?
The most important thing is not to stop studying and improving: on paper, canvas, skin… to exercise the eye and the mind!
What are your favourite subjects and techniques?
Obviously my favorite subjects are related to dark concept art: animals, women, men, skulls and many more. In a mix and hybridization of different techniques and styles.
Where did the idea of this eBook come from?
Last year I had the idea of a sketchbook to collect all the drawings I made over the years, and at that point Mr. Miki Vialetto showed up to give me the honour and the opportunity of making this eBook.
What are your projects for the future?
My future plans and projects are to continue my research, to keep evolving and be curious about art in every form.
